The 2009 Grand Raffle

It's time for the fall 2009 Grand Raffle Fundraiser! This is a simple and easy tax deductible contribution to the musical arts community at Athens Drive. This year our tickets are only $20.00 or if you buy 5 you will get a 6th ticket free.  In return for the contribution, the purchase price of the ticket can be deducted on your 2009 tax return.

The Grand Raffle is a simple ticket raffle that will cost $20.00 per numbered ticket.  On or around December 14, 2009 we will hold the Grand Raffle prize drawing during the Band & Choir Christmas concerts.  Five cash prizes will be awarded that day.  The prizes are as follows:

1st Place $2000       2nd Place $1000      3rd Place $800        4th Place $400        5th Place $200

The wrinkle that makes this raffle attractive is that we are only selling 500 tickets.  That gives someone holding a ticket a 1 in 500 chance of winning a prize.  And that prize could be 100 times more than the cost of the ticket.  As a way to encourage people to participate early, we will be holding 4 additional drawings for $100.00 on or around the end of each month.  If your ticket wins, your ticket will be placed back in the drawing and you are still eligible to win the grand prize!

This is a wonderful fundraiser for family members (Grandparents, Godparents, Aunts & Uncles) to help contribute to their family’s education.  We can not emphasize enough how much we would like to sell the tickets to non-band members.  We want to extend our fundraising efforts outside of the immediate band family and this type of raffle is used by other non-profit organizations like ours as well.

Finally, the Athens Drive Arts Foundation has authorized cash incentives to the person who sells the most tickets.  This along with the early prize drawings are additional incentive to encourage you to sell the tickets instead of buying them.  See our Questions & Answers document attached to this letter and check our website (www.athensarts.net) for more details about this exciting fundraiser.  Again, if you choose not to participate, please return the envelope and tickets to Dr. Markoch in the band office Oct 1, 2009.
