Marching Band Camp - Day 6

Friday, August 5, 2005

Friday morning, everyone dragged themselves to breakfast. We had a breakfast of eggs, bacon, grits, and waffles, and felt much better as we went into sectionals. We met on the field later in the morning for a rehearsal. It was quite a bit hotter than the previous days!

Lunch came quickly, and we went to the cafeteria for a choice of chicken or lasagna. As we headed back to the dorms, we heard thunder, and quickly got everyone inside to ride out a short thunderstorm. We used our time wisely to begin packing, as we knew we'd have about an hour delay. After the storm passed, we were able to go outside for a very hot and humid dress rehearsal for the afternoon. After the rehearsal, we went back to the dorms to finish packing and check everyone out.

Dinner was Subway sandwiches (a welcome relief from the cafeteria food) served in the SAC by the chaperones. After dinner, we met one last time as a group, feeling like we didn't want to go home and leave our new family members. (Of course, the call of our own beds and mom's home cooking was something we all looked forward to!) We got our t-shirts, and prepared for the performance for the parents.

After a performance for many, many admiring parents and proud band alumni, we were dismissed to our families to go home.
