2005 Spring Band Banquet

The spring banquet recognizes the student accomplishments during the spring semester. After a bountiful potluck banquet, the Ranking Awards are presented first, each student recognized for the number of years they have taken band classes. Next, the seniors receive plaques. The Jazz Ensemble, Winterguard, and Honor Ensembles are recognized, too.

While the focus remains on the students, a couple of adults are recognized. This year, outgoing Co-President Luanne Webb and outgoing treasurers Elizabeth and Tim Taylor were recognized for their many years of service, and they won't have children in band next year. Dennis Perry was presented with the Booster of the Year award.

The students make presentations, too. The Junior Class, led by David Brandl and Rachel Church, presented the Senior class with a poster with a picture from their first year of band camp and a picture of the seniors with the Grand Champion trophy. The Seniors presented the Juniors with the Honor Cords. Sophomore Kelsey Martin presented a canvas painted with a favorite band quote: "We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of dreams," to be hung over the band room doors.

Doc presented the National Awards. Bianca Ibarra and Andrew Moyer received the Semper Fidelis Award presented by the U.S. Marine Corps. Scott Sweeney was awarded the Patrick S. Gilmore award. The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award went to Max von St. Paul. And the John Philip Sousa Award went to Mark Woodell. Congratulations to these and all of our talented Seniors!

The evening concludes with a slide show in the auditorium. Thanks to Steve Morelen, John Bryant, and Della Martin for putting together this year's slide show!
