Pre-Camp
Leadership meetings for seniors and section leaders will be held 3:30-5:00pm Monday through Thursday during pre-camp. Attendance is mandatory.
OverviewBand pre-camp is held at Athens Drive High School the week before band camp. Pre-camp is Monday through Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 10:00 PM. The purpose of pre-camp is to enable the students to learn and review marching maneuvers, work on the music, to begin working with section leaders and others in their section, and to learn the expectations of the director, drum major, and band members. Pre-camp is also an opportunity for veteran band members to get acquainted with new freshmen students and reunite with old friends. Students are to dress comfortably and wear athletic shoes and socks. Pre-camp is also a time for parents to plan for band camp and to inform all parents about band camp such as what to bring and the schedule of band camp events. A mandatory parent meeting is held the week of pre-camp to give information regarding band camp, and for all medical forms, applications, and student contracts to be filled out and signed. Pertinent information regarding meetings will also be posted on the band website. Pre-camp week parent activitiesParent Chaperones are needed to monitor the rehearsals; two or three parents are needed each night. Tuesday night from 6:30-8:30ish is a meeting for all parents regarding the marching season, with particular emphasis on band camp. All parents are encouraged to attend. Thursday – All forms and band camp "fair share" payments are due. |
