SCRIP is a term used to refer to “substitute money.” A large number of nationwide retailers participate in the Great Lakes SCRIP program.  They make gift certificates or cards for their stores available to non-profit organizations at a discounted price.  As a parent of an Athens Drive Band student, you may order gift certificates for participating retailers from the Athens Drive Band Boosters at face value and have the discounted amount credited to your child’s band account after the order arrives.  For example, if you purchase $100 worth of gift certificates to Barnes and Noble, 9% of that purchase ($9) will be credited to your child’s band account.  Percentages and denominations vary between retailers, so refer closely to your Retailer list.  You can also go to www.glscrip.com (go to “retailers”) to see other retailers and percentage discounts or to verify that discounts are still the same as your Retailer list which changes periodically. You may give the certificates away for gifts (valid across the country) or use them to shop yourself.

If you are interested in ordering SCRIP, please fill out a SCRIP form and return it to the scrip coordinator along with your payment before or at the “odd month” Band Booster meetings.  Your check should be for the FULL FACE of the certificates you order plus a $2.00 service charge to cover shipping costs.  The discount will be credited to your band account.  Only prepaid orders will be accepted.  The SCRIP should arrive approximately two weeks or less after the order is placed.  You will be notified when the orders come in.

Please note the discount amount and denominations available on the Retailer list.  All  retailers accept them for current purchases only.  The Athens Drive Band Boosters cannot give refunds or exchanges on certificates.  If you have any questions, email James Farnsworth.  (Make checks payable to ADHS Band Boosters.)

Orders will be taken before or at the Band Booster meeting in the following odd-numbered months:  September, November, January, March, and May  This schedule will help you plan your order and ensure that we have the minimum number of SCRIP orders (at least 5) for the order to be sent.  (Due to summer vacation, you will be contacted by email when a July order can be made.)
