Questions? | The National March to IndyFebruary 1 - March 1, 2010Sponsor a measure in National March to Indy for just $2! In the band hallway is a wall size score (4'x43') of the National March. For just $2, a donor can “sponsor” a measure on the trip to Indianapolis. Each sponsor gets a specially printed label on which they can put their name or some small comment on a sticker that goes under the music staff. Because we rehearse the music over and over again, each measure is in need of multiple sponsors, so we’d like to see the wall covered in stickers! Want to sponsor a little bit more than $2? For $20, we’ll put your message on a larger image of clapping hands, allowing you to generate a round of applause for the musicians!
All members of the band family are encouraged to participate. The Athens Drive Symphonic Band members are representing the entire Athens Drive band program, and their accolades will reflect on the entire band program as we seek out more opportunities for other facets of our band program. Because the Symphonic Band members are benefitting directly, we are asking that each member find sponsors for at least 20 measures. Because the rest of the band students will benefit indirectly from the accolades accorded to Athens Drive, we’d like to ask that other band students strive to find sponsors for 10 measures. There will be some prizes for students who obtain the most measures, and the number and kind of prizes will be directly linked to how much money is raised. Doc will address the students in class regarding the prizes. We can promise that any family finding sponsors for 20 or more measures will get a post card from our trip to Indianapolis. If anyone finds a single person sponsoring 20 or more measures (or at least one round of applause), get their address, and we will send them a post card, too. Sponsors should be easy to find. In addition to students outside the band program, you can ask your friends, co-workers, neighbors, members of your church – anyone you think would be happy to give just $2. Who wouldn’t want to give just $2 to help a very, very deserving program showcase some of their members at the national level? AND they will be immortalized on our band wall with their very own measure! Mr. Crockett supports this fundraiser, and the ADHS students will see it advertised on ATV frequently. We are hoping that the students at the school will help out the band program. We think that students will want to see their names on the music. This fundraiser runs until the Symphonic Band and Percussion Ensemble concert on March 1, as we leave for Indianapolis on the 3rd. Come to the concert and hear their performance, and see the sponsors who support our band. How this works:There are two signup sheets. One is a list that has the student's name at the top and has space for 10 names and messages to put on the sticker. This is great for those sponsors who don't need anything "in return," such as band students asking other students. A second sheet is available that has a bit of information about what this is, some websites to go to, and serves as a receipt for their donation. This is great for neighbors or others who aren't as familiar with the program. Have them fill out the bottom, which you'll tear off and keep while they keep the top part. Put their name on your list of 10 (to make it easy to count how many sponsors you have) and keep the bottom part to fill in the message. When you "cash in" during class, you'll turn your money in, and your signup sheet will be highlighted indicated that you've turned in your money and received the stickers for the sponsored miles. Write the messages on the stickers (colored pens are in the band room, if you want to add some color), then stick them under the measure of the music you'd like to sponsor. Extra forms are available in class, but if you want to print them off at home or work, they're at the links:
