Gregory Poole gives us 100% of the money collected in exchange for helping their workers park and keeping their site safe. The amount credited to a band account is calculated to ensure that the band takes in enough money collected to cover the credits to all accounts, particularly if there is a cold, rainy fair, or attendance is down for some reason. If the fair parking does well, the money made above what is paid out to band accounts goes into the general fund. This has been a very successful fundraiser for the general account! THANK YOU, GREGORY POOLE, FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE ADHS BAND!

Event Chair: John Bryant Online Signups Gregory Poole is located just across the railroad tracks from the fairgrounds, and is a prime place to park. During the day, this presents a problem for their staff when fairgoers would like to take up spaces for the Gregory Poole workers. In exchange for us keeping fairgoers out during the business day, Gregory Poole lets us park cars in the evenings and weekends and keep the proceeds. The work is not difficult! During the weekdays, Gregory Poole employees are great about showing their IDs. We turn away everyone without an ID. Bring a chair, a good book, and dress for the weather (blankets and mittens are not out of the question!), and maybe some snacks, and be prepared to wave through some of the nicest employees of Gregory Poole! At night, we move to parking mode. It can get very busy on the weekends and certain nights, but the work is a lot of fun.
Directions to Gregory Poole. In the past, we have usually come up Blue Ridge road from its intersection at Western Blvd. and turned left onto Beryl Road just before the RR tracks. This year, the state is planning to use that left turn lane for an express bus stop; so we may be prevented from turning left. We have a GREAT ALTERNATE way (scroll down for map): From Western Boulevard, going either down to the Beltline or coming up from the Beltline, TURN towards the fair at POWELL ROAD. There is a Holland Rental store on the corner. This road swings gently to the left and then straightens out just before the RR tracks. Turn RIGHT onto Beryl Road BEFORE crossing the tracks. I took this way last night and did not see a street sign for Beryl Road at the intersection; so just remember the right turn is just before Powell crosses the RR track. Beryl road parallels the tracks for about 1/2 mile and you will be able to turn right into Gregory Poole's Parts/Lobby entrance 200 feet before you reach Blue Ridge Road. You will see yellow construction barricades on either side of the entrance. Bring a folding chair and a jacket as it tends to be chilly in the mornings and evenings. We will have walkie talkies and reflective vests for everybody and a veteran shift leader to show you where the wash room is and other miscellaneous information. - John Bryant
