Booster Communication

Athens Drive Band Boosters communicates extensively through email. We use the Yahoo! Groups email service to provide the mechanism to email everyone. To be sure you are getting all the communications, the instructions for signing up are given in column below on the right; below that is how to request daily digests instead of individual emails. In case you missed something, or deleted that email that you now need, the Yahoo! Groups service archives all of the messages.

Yahoo! Groups Email Service

If you are not currently receiving email with a subject starting with [adhsband], please sign up for this service. If you turned in your intent form (marching band) or during the first week of school (for class bands), we will sign you up if you provided your email address.

The easiest way to sign up is to follow this link:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/adhsband/

Then click on "Join this group" at the top right. If you have a Yahoo! account (you have one if you use Yahoo Messenger, have a Yahoo mail address, or use several other Yahoo services requiring a login), you can login, then sign up for the group by following the directions. If you don't have an account, it's free (and safe from viruses and spam), and takes less than 5 minutes to sign up.

Not only does Yahoo! Groups send you email, but there is a place to download files, a place for links, and a calendar. By signing up for Yahoo! Groups, you get email to let us send you updated information, and you have another place to find information in addition to this website.

While you're at it, take a moment and bookmark this website. You'll want to come back often.

Do you want to see the archives? Use the link above to login to the webpage. You must be a member to view the archives! Use your Yahoo! ID to login. Don't have a Yahoo ID? Click on the "Join this group" at the top right of the Home bar. Use the email address in which you receive the band emails. Remember your own user login and password; we have no control over their system.

Daily Digests

At busy times of the year, we follow good email etiquette and send one email per subject. That means that you might receive three or four (or more?) emails per day. Yahoo Groups has a feature to roll up one day's worth of emails into a single email.

To set up daily digests yourself, you need a Yahoo account. You can sign up for an account (go to www.yahoogroups.com and click on the "Click here to register" link. Fill in the form (be sure to look at any check boxes and don't allow any extra junk mail into your inbox, unless you really want it!), then follow the instructions. There are three or four screens of information, one of which will help you find all of your groups that you belong to. Be sure to sign up with the same e-mail address you use to get the ADHSBand messages so Yahoo finds the ADHSBand group.

If you already have an account, sign in. Click on your ADHSBand group link on your main screen. On the right of the title bar, there's a link titled: "Edit my membership." Click this. There are several options:

  • Individual Emails - sends every email as it receives it.
  • Daily Digest - sends multiple emails together once a day (or when about 20 emails are reached, whichever comes first).
  • Special Notices - Moderators have the ability to mark messages as special notices; we don't use this feature. You would not receive any mail with this option.
  • No email - use this option if you are on an extended trip to turn off the messages. Don't forget to turn them on when you return!

If you don't have an account or don't understand how to do this, reply to any ADHSBand group message and indicate that you want to receive digests.

It may take Yahoo Groups 24 to 48 hours to log your change in their system.
